Brushing your teeth is one of the surest ways to take care of your dental health. There are about four different tooth-brushing techniques, each one addressing specific dental health concerns.

Stillmans Tooth Brushing Technique

Stillmans tooth-brushing technique uses horizontal strokes that go back and forth on the surfaces of all your teeth. The tooth-brushing technique involves placing your toothbrush at a 45-degree angle to your teeth and gums. The bristles of the toothbrush should touch both the gums and the teeth, and then you use a vibration motion to remove plaque from the teeth and on top of the gum line. The next step is to flick the bristles away from the gums in a rolling motion to remove the plaque.

Bass Tooth Brushing Method

The Bass tooth brushing method is quite similar, especially because it involves moving the toothbrush in vibrating motions. All you need to do is place your toothbrush at an angle of 45 degrees to the gum line and move it back and forth in short strokes along the teeth and the gums. The method removes bacteria on the surface of the teeth, gums, and a few millimeters below the gums. It is best for people with gingivitis.

Charters Tooth Brushing Method

The Charter Method of brushing teeth is recommended if you have natural spaces existing between your teeth. Like the previous two methods, the Charters technique also involves placement of the bristles at a 45-degree angle. However, the Charter method is the opposite of the Bass and Stillman technique as it involves placing your bristles toward the chewing surface of the tooth. Apply short, circular strokes with your vibrating toothbrush for 15-20 seconds on each section of your mouth.

Circular Tooth Brushing Method

The circular tooth-brushing method is the quickest way to clean your teeth. The method is also different from the other three methods. You need to place your brush over your teeth at no particular angle and then move the brush in circular motions in 4-5 sets.
